This Project was focused on the technical assistance for implementation of the EU Persistent Organic Pollutants Regulation in Turkey (EuropeAid/129470/D/SER/TR). The main activities set out below have been completed throughout the project.
Activity Set 1: Defining and strengthening the institutional and technical capacity for the implementation of the POPs Regulation
Training Needs Assessment Report delivery, detailed training programme agreed with Beneficiary, training materials elaborated, eight five days trainings programme carried out, training material (printed and electronical version on CD) prepared; delivered study visits, obtained from the study visits materials and gained experience and contacts, seminars and conferences held, seminars and conference material prepared, Final Conference handbook was published; project website was finalized in the co-operation with the MoEU in Turkish and English version, Project Handbooks were and Project Brochure were published.
Activity Set 2: Conceiving the steps to be taken for effective implementation of the POPs Regulation
Technical Assistance Team (TAT) and the Coordination Board established, list of Key Stakeholders compiled, legal Gap and SWOT analysis prepared, draft legislation prepared, National Implementation Plan (NIP) reviewed and updated, update of inventory prepared, planned workshops organized.
Activity Set 3: Determination of national and sectoral effects of the implementation of the POPs Regulation
Relevant to Sectoral Impact Assessment (SIA) and Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) information and data collected, RIA and SIA Report prepared, RIA results disseminated.
Final phase Activities: Organization of final conference, preparation of guidelines and manuals for trainers, presentation and submission of the project results, preparation of draft and final project reports.
Set of comments and recommendations were prepared on the base of the analysis of the national POPs inventory, National Implementation Plan 2010, UNIDO Draft of the NIP 2014, analysis of country legal situation and results of the sectoral and regulatory impact assessment reports.
